I. At the Dawn of Time
Once the ice ages receded and the 1st human teams roamed the humid valleys of your Cantabrian Sea, the lands we now contact Euskal Herria have been previously a refuge. While in the caves of Santimamiñe, Ekain, Isturitz, and Aitzbitarte, nameless palms still left bison, horses, and symbols that also appear to resonate nowadays.

III. In between Empires: The Early Center Ages
Following the drop of Rome, these lands lay between two worlds: the Frankish plus the Visigothic.
Through this time, a name emerged that would resonate for hundreds of years: Vasconia.
• In Navarre, the Vascones organized them selves all over Pamplona.
• Inside the Northern Basque Country (Iparralde), the Duchy of Vasconia stretched with the Garonne River for the Pyrenees.
• In Biscay, Gipuzkoa, and Álava, local lineages preserved autonomy amidst the mountains and click here valleys.
The Vikings attacked the coast; the Franks tried to control the Pyrenean passes; the Visigoths and afterwards the Muslims clashed within the Ebro frontier.
But the Basque communities survived, adapting devoid of dropping their id.
IV. The Kingdom of Pamplona / Kingdom of Navarre
